Bhutan Tourism is Booming

Bhutan tourism is booming !

I say that with regret, and a bit of selfishness, because although the country is slowly opening up to the modern world with a fine balance of ancient traditions, I've felt fortunate to be among those who have experienced this country in pristine state.

Bhutan is the last bastion of Vajrayana school of Mahayana Buddhism, which provides the essense of a unique identity for the 750,000 people of Bhutan.

Bhutan is called the "Land of the Thunder Dragon" and is a trekkers paradise with a pristine ecology and is home to rare and endangered flora and fauna. Those fortunate enough to visit Bhutan describe it as a unique, deeply spiritual and mystical experience.

  1. Lots of folks actually go to Bhutan only for the spiritual experience. The place looks like a paradise left untouched by men. It's truly a sight to behold.
